If you notice a payment that you didn’t authorize, let us know right away through our Resolution Center
To notify about unauthorized actions occurring online:
- Navigate to the Resolution Center.
- Select Report a problem.
- Identify the payment you wish to report and click Continue.
- Select “I want to report unauthorized activity.”
- Follow the instructions to report the payment.
To notify about any unauthorized actions within the app:
- Select Activity.
- Choose the payment you wish to report.
- Click on Report a Problem.
- Pick the reason for your report and follow the instructions.
What follows next?
After you have reported an unauthorized transaction, we will conduct a thorough investigation. An email notification will be sent to you within 10 days. PayPal unauthorized transaction help
Be aware that certain charges may appear unfamiliar but are indeed legitimate and authorized. Before proceeding with a case, ensure that the suspicious activity was not caused by a family member accessing your PayPal account or by an automatic payment, such as a subscription.
To cancel an automatic payment via the website:
- Open the Settings menu.
- Click on Payments.
- Select Automatic payments.
- Locate the merchant’s name or email address and click Cancel.
To cancel an automatic payment through the app:
- Tap on Accounts.
- Select Autopay.
- Choose the merchant in question.
- Remove PayPal as your payment method.
- Confirm the cancellation by selecting Cancel this AutoPay.
